Special report no. 09/2018 by the European Court of Auditors on EU Public-Private Partnerships
In the report released on the 20th of March 2018 by the ECA, the auditors examined 12 PPPs co-financed by EU, France, Greece, Ireland and Spain for infrastructure and technologies projects. According to the Court the partnerships audited have resulted in € 1.5 billion of ineffective spending resulting from financial gaps caused by the renegotiation of PPP contracts. The ECA made several recommendations to the European Commission and to Member States to improve the use of PPPs through a better PPP EU framework.
